Karen Pendry is a British contemporary artist based in
Gower. She has always drawn inspiration from her
surroundings and is constantly amazed by the
ever changing beauty of the land, sea and sky.
Karen is a well established artist, working mainly by
commission for private buyers and corporate clients.
Creative interiors are her speciality. Working with her client's individual concepts of colour, size, and style, Karen creates statement artwork, giving any space a contemporary feel.
She offers a personalised service to deliver an entirely original artwork, with a customised project to incorporate the specific requirements of each client. It is important that each piece provides a strong focal point and is a reflection of the personality of the purchaser.
Karen's work is highly collectable and widely exhibited, with paintings held in private collections in the UK and abroad. She also sells both large and small pieces through solo and group exhibitions.
Alongside her abstracts are stunning coastal scenes, straddling the boundaries between the narrative seascapes and abstract style, blending modern and traditional approaches.

In her art work, Karen captures the interplay of light and vibrant colour which needs to be seen in situ to be fully appreciated. Her works are essentially abstract in character and filled with intense light and luminescent colour.
" I am particularly interested in experimenting with the behaviour of these paints, which react together to produce amazing results - the mixture of oils and acrylic on the glass allows me to capture the natural environment whilst producing vibrant and powerful images."
The glass images are set over foil and gold or silver leaf. This results in the image catching the light in very different ways, depending on the angle of the viewer, giving them a rich 3D effect.
The fluidity of the painting invites the viewer to stand back and use their imagination, as the whole stunning image appears.
